Abstract

The implosion of the Soviet Union and the restructuration of the Russian Federation have established a breaking point in the Russian international strategy, which have implied the withdraw of multiple initiatives and the re-approchment to the western block. From the beginning of the new millennium, the arrival of Vladimir Putin to the presidency, and Dmitri Medvedev’s enlargement of the political model, new opportunities have arise to bring back to Russia its global player role, as of the idea of the rise of the others. The BRICS Project has turned up to Moscow as an international insertion strategy, which allows Russia to an approachement to these countries and encourages the reform of some international outlines with the objective of increasing the global relevance.
