Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The file extension is .doc or .docx. The page size used is A4, with margins of 2.54 cm (bottom, top, left, and right)
  • Whenever possible, URLs or DOIs are provided for the references.
  • Times New Roman font size 12 is used, aligned to the left (not justified). The text has double spacing (including for bibliographic references) and a 5-space indentation is used for all paragraphs
  • The writing style, titles, citations, and the reference list at the end of the manuscript follow the APA guidelines in their 7th edition
  • The anonymous cover page (first page of the document) does not contain any author information to preserve the evaluation process

Instructions for authors

Registration and login are required to submit files online and to check the status of recent submissions. Go to Login to an existing account or Register a new account.

  1. All contributions must be submitted in Microsoft Word format, A4 page size with 2.54cm margins (bottom, top, left and right). They should be written in Times New Roman, font size 12, left-aligned (not justified), indented 5 spaces in all paragraphs and double spaced. Pages should be numbered consecutively in the bottom right-hand margin.
  2. The only documents that will be considered for publication are unpublished research papers, opinion articles and reviews on any of the following issues: Argentine Foreign Policy, International Politics, International Organisations, Regional Integration and International Cooperation, Security, Defence and International Conflicts, Economic Development, Currents of Thought and Theoretical Approaches to International Relations.
  3. Submissions can be sent in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
  4. Papers should be submitted through the journal's website

5. The presentation must conform to the following specifications: A4 size page, 2.54 cm margins; Font: Times New Roman; Font size: 12; Line spacing: double; Indentation: 5 spaces; Title: Size 12, in bold. See title levels (APA 7°) Exs:

The maximum length of the papers must be: between 15 and 20 pages for research articles (50,000 to 70,000 characters without spaces), 8 pages for opinion articles (28,000 characters without spaces) and 5 pages for bibliographic reviews (17,500 characters without spaces). Papers that do not comply with the length and bibliographic standards will be returned to the author for adaptation.

Research articles should be structured as follows: introduction; numbered sections; conclusions and bibliographical references.

1-Cover page

The cover page should be submitted in a separate file to preserve the anonymity of the authors in the manuscript evaluation process. This document should include the following information:

- The title of the paper must be written in the original language, in bold, centred and with capital letter in the first word (not to exceed 15 words).

2- Translation of the title: If the original title is in Spanish, there should be a translation into English; if the original title is in Portuguese, a translation into Spanish and English; and if the original title is in English, its translation should be into Spanish.

3- Full name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s). These should be presented on separate lines, left-aligned. After the name, insert a footnote (marked with an asterisk) specifying the author's last level of education completed and the institution where the degree was awarded (its full form and acronym), position and institutional affiliation (its full form and acronym). If applicable, in a separate paragraph, indicate the source of funding for the study.

4- Institutional affiliation: Left-aligned and in the line that follows the author's name, indicate the institutional affiliation in full, followed by the country to which it belongs, separated by a comma.

5- ORCID: On the next line, left-aligned, copy full URL. If you do not have your ORCID, please register at https://orcid.org/register.

6- E-mail address: written as above, on a separate line, left-aligned.

7- Short CV of up to 200 words using 2.54 cm margins (bottom, top, left and right), Times New Roman, font size 12, left-aligned (not justified), indented 5 spaces in all paragraphs and double spaced.

8- All research articles must be accompanied by a summary of the content in Spanish and English. Those papers written in Portuguese must include it in all three languages. The Abstract will have a maximum length of 200 words (1,000 characters without spaces), in font size 10 and single-spaced. The title and keywords (between 3 and 5) must be included in all languages for bibliographic registration.

9- Any comment regarding the written work (previous presentation, collaborators, acknowledgements, etc.) must be indicated with an asterisk in the title and a corresponding footnote.

10- In the case of opinion articles, it is recommended to use as few quotations as possible, or the strictly necessary ones.

11- Quotations, footnotes and bibliographical references should follow APA 7 ed. standards.

12- All foreign language expressions should be written in italics.

13- In the case of acronyms, the first time they are used, they should be placed in parentheses preceded by the full name to which they refer; they should be written without full stop.

14- Tables and charts prepared by the author must be included in the body of the text. If they are not self-prepared, the source must be indicated. Screenshots are not allowed.

15- Cuadernos de Política Exterior Argentina is not responsible for unpublished originals. In this case, authors may request their return.

16- Submissions must observe the editorial rules of Cuadernos. Otherwise, they will be returned to the author so that he/she can make the corresponding modifications before they are sent for evaluation.

17- The opinions expressed are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of Cuadernos de Política Exterior Argentina.

18- The author expressly releases CERIR and the UNR from any further liability for any legal, regulatory or contractual infringement that he/she may commit or may have committed in relation to their work. Therefore, the author must repair any damage resulting from the infringement of these or other rights.
